Wind Chime Parts Can Be A Personal Artistic Impression
The sound and vision of a wind chime blowing in the breeze is a beautiful reminder of summer pleasures. An enjoyable arts and crafts activity to create with kids is a wind chime that reflects personal expression. Wind chime parts can be made out of nearly anything that can be found around the house, making this activity not only fun but creative and inexpensive as well.
A Treasure Hunt Reveals Wind Chime Parts To Reflect Personal Style
Begin the arts and crafts activity by encouraging the children to go on a treasure hunt to discover different parts for their wind chime. Parts for the wind chime could include sea shells, rocks, pine cones, bells, beads, silverware, discarded compact discs or anything else that can be attached to the wind chime by thread, ribbon or string.
An easy top, used for attaching the wind chime treasures, is the plastic lid off of a large or small coffee lid. This lid is the top portion of the wind chime, working as the base to which the different parts of the wind chime will be tied.
Attaching Wind Chime Parts To Create Summer Art For Patio Or Deck
Once you have chosen all of the treasures for the wind chime, it is time to attach each individual item to string, ribbon or yarn. There are many different ways to attach the treasures to the string. One way is to glue each item with liquid glue. Be sure that you allow at least twenty-four hours drying time to insure that the glue dries completely. Another method for attaching the treasures is to use a string that is tied to each item. This can be done by using a small art drill to drill a hole in each item. This will require the assistance of an adult, as it can be dangerous when using a small drill. If possible, tying an item can also be an effective way of building a wind chime if the pieces are such that they can be easily tied to the string.
When all of the treasures are securely attached to their own string, tie each string to the plastic lid that is the base upon which the wind chime is being built. It is important to tie each string securely or the wind chime parts will not stay attached and the wind chime will fall apart. Once you have completed the final stages of attaching all the wind chime parts, it is time to hang the wind chime outside for everyone in your family to enjoy.
